Habitat for Humanity of Northeast Connecticut promotes home ownership with volunteers building houses in partnership with residents in need of adequate housing. We are celebrating over 10 years of service in the Quiet Corner. Our chapter has built nine houses and serves a ten-town area that includes Brooklyn, Canterbury, Eastford, Killingly, Plainfield, Pomfret, Putnam, Sterling, Thompson, and Woodstock. Organized in 1993, Habitat for Humanity of Northeast CT has been an affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International since 1995. We seek to draw families in need and communities together to build decent, affordable housing. Habitat for Humanity of Northeast Connecticut is committed not only to the construction of houses in the areas we serve but to the development and uplifting of families and the communities where they live.
Finding affordable building sites in Northeastern Connecticut is one of our major challenges. A charitable gift of a building site would not only mean tax savings to you, but it would also provide a family safe and decent shelter for many years to come. Donated real estate may also be deducted as a charitable contribution. Please consult with your tax accountant to determine the tax benefits available.
Another option is to sell a building site to Habitat at a reduced price. A charitable contribution may also be available in this situation, so please check with your accountant. Not only will this type of sale reduce taxes, but it is a gift that will keep on giving for years!
Please contact Blaine Kaiser, Habitat Vice President to donate or sell land or property. bkaiser@habitatnortheastct.org
